The event took place at the Church of Scientology & Community Centre of Dublin. Presentations throughout the day showed how community assistance can range from direct support for people facing hardship to programmes promoting independence and inclusion.
Among the speakers was South Dublin Mayor Cllr. Francis Timmons, who presented the practical assistance provided through Clondalkin Helping Homeless.
Viktor Kozyrev, co-founder of VOLA Enable, explained how VOLA Enable works to reduce barriers faced by people with disabilities and encourage fuller participation in community life.
Scientology Volunteer Minister Silvia Fani then presented examples of volunteer activity carried out locally and internationally.
The Scientology Volunteer Ministers news euro 2024 programme was founded by L. Ron Hubbard in the 1970s as an initiative for practical assistance to individuals and communities. Its motto is “Something Can Be Done About It.”
An interactive session later allowed participants to become familiar with several methods used within the Volunteer Ministers programme.
Taken together, the presentations illustrated how humanitarian work can be carried out by organisations with very different areas of expertise.
